Keep Calm and Carry On September 15

In this series of classes we will learn to meditate & learn techniques for calming & self- soothing. Learn Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Meditation. Learn relaxation and resilience skills for more peace, calm and coping ability. Brain science research has shown that learning these skills helps heal past trauma and gives us new strengths to use in the present. The benefits of group support, a safe nurturing environment in which to learn and to laugh together encourages us to step into new territory and let go of old patterns that may not be useful. Let your body and mind learn to be relaxed instead of being in high alert, fight or flight stress mode. Tisa McGraw your facilitator for this class has been a relaxation specialist for many years, a Meditation teacher & a life coach specializing in providing holistic support for trauma recovery.
Outline: Lecture on benefits of meditation for trauma recovery based on scientific research – Meditation techniques explained – Relaxation techniques using breathing, visualization, resilience training – Relaxation using body scan followed by Relaxing Guided Meditation and Mindfulness Meditation – questions & discussion
Week 1 – How trauma gets stored in the body & how it feels – Lecture based on research – body scan exercises with breathing release techniques – self talk process to release trauma explained & demonstrated with discussion & questions
Week 2, 3, 4 – Processing lecture – participants process with facilitator who models healthy self talk for processing trauma related patterns – discussion & questions
