Laughter is good for the soul!

This familiar saying holds more truth than we often give it credit. You might think that laughter and trauma are an odd combination. Trauma can change our brain chemistry, the way we view ourselves, and interact with the world. This can increase both mental and physical health struggles. How is laughter going to help all of that?

Research has shown that laughter has many health benefits including stress reduction, increased immunity, pain reduction, increased resilience, and improved moods. Humor offers the ability to look at things from an alternate perspective and adds a sense of control in regulating emotions. Through the humor and laughter of improvisation, kids will learn how to be mindful of the moment, listen, work cooperatively, be flexible, accept mistakes, and to trust themselves and others.

Improvisation is a form of comedy that anyone can participate in; it is the art of saying yes! Simply by learning to be present and saying yes, improv teaches kids valuable skills with the added bonus of laughter. Through this course, kids can improve their self-confidence in a non-judgmental environment filled with fun and games.

Everyone is welcome. Let’s play!
